Inpatient Drug & Alcohol Rehab

Inpatient rehab — sometimes called residential treatment — is the highest level of addiction care short of hospitalization. This page explains what inpatient rehab actually involves, who benefits most, and what to expect from the experience at BetterChoice.

What to Expect

You live at the facility 24/7 for the duration of treatment, typically 30-90 days. Days are structured around individual and group therapy, holistic programming, meals, and rest. The intensity is genuine but the setting is calm — most clients describe the rhythm as therapeutic in itself.

Our Approach

Inpatient rehab works because it does three things at once: it removes you from your environment, it provides intensive daily clinical work, and it builds the rhythms (sleep, food, exercise, peer support) that sustain long-term recovery. Our program does each of these well, in a setting that makes the experience easier to commit to.

Why BetterChoice?

  • • 24/7 medical supervision and care
  • • Private luxury estate setting
  • • Evidence-based therapeutic protocols
  • • Master's level clinical staff
  • • Joint Commission accredited

Quick Answer

Inpatient rehab is residential addiction treatment where patients live at the facility 24 hours a day, typically for 30–60 days, receiving daily individual therapy, group sessions, psychiatric care, and structured recovery programming. BetterChoice Treatment Center provides luxury inpatient drug and alcohol rehab in Las Vegas in a private estate-style setting. Call (725) 550-5655.

Who Inpatient Rehab Is For

Inpatient (residential) treatment is the right level of care for patients who:

  • Need medical detox safely managed for alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, or stimulants
  • Have significant co-occurring mental health conditions (anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, ADHD)
  • Live in environments that make recovery impossible (active substance use in the home, significant triggers, unsafe relationships)
  • Have failed prior outpatient attempts
  • Need to fully step out of their daily environment to focus on recovery
  • Have severe addictions with significant medical, psychiatric, or social complications

For patients with mild-to-moderate addiction, stable home environments, and strong family support, outpatient (PHP, IOP) may be appropriate. We help every patient find the right level of care.

What Inpatient Rehab Includes at BetterChoice

A complete program typically runs 30–60 days and includes:

  • Medical detox if needed — 5–10 days in a private suite with 24/7 nursing
  • Daily individual therapy — typically 2–3 sessions per week with a licensed clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or psychologist)
  • Daily group therapy — process group, skills group, trauma-informed psychoeducation, recovery skills, relapse prevention
  • Psychiatric care — on-staff psychiatric prescribers for medication management and dual-diagnosis treatment
  • Trauma-focused therapy — EMDR, trauma-focused CBT for the underlying trauma that often sits beneath addiction
  • Medication-assisted treatment when appropriate (Suboxone, Vivitrol, Naltrexone, Acamprosate, Disulfiram)
  • Family program — structured education sessions, weekly family therapy, communication protocols
  • Experiential therapy — yoga, mindfulness, fitness, equine therapy, art therapy, breathwork
  • Nutritional rehabilitation — chef-prepared meals, dietitian consultation
  • Case management — discharge planning, aftercare coordination, sober living arrangement
  • Aftercare and alumni support — outpatient handoff, ongoing connection to recovery community

A Day in Inpatient Rehab

Mornings begin with breakfast in the main house, followed by community check-in and the first group of the day (often process group, recovery skills, or trauma-informed psychoeducation). Mid-mornings are individual therapy sessions, psychiatric appointments, or case management meetings. Lunch in the dining area is followed by an experiential block — yoga, fitness, mindfulness, equine therapy, or breathwork. Afternoons return to clinical work: a second group, family sessions, or specialized programming. Evenings include nutritionally dense dinners, optional meetings, and downtime in the gardens, pool area, or quiet lounges.

The structure is intentional — early-recovery brains do well with predictability — but the setting feels nothing like a hospital. Most patients fall into a rhythm by the end of week one.

Length of Stay — Why 30 Days Is Often Not Enough

Many insurance authorizations approve 30 days initially, but clinical guidelines and outcomes data favor longer stays. The reasons:

  • The first 7–10 days are often medical detox
  • Weeks 2–3 are typically when patients begin to feel "clear-headed enough" to do real therapy work
  • Trauma processing, dual-diagnosis stabilization, and behavior pattern work take time
  • The longer a patient stays in a structured environment in early recovery, the better the long-term outcomes data

We typically pursue extensions when clinically warranted, and many patients stay 45–60 days or longer.

After Inpatient Rehab

Discharge planning starts at admission and is continuously updated. By discharge, every patient has:

  1. A named outpatient provider (PHP, IOP, or OP based on needs)
  2. A scheduled first outpatient appointment
  3. Continued psychiatric medications with named prescriber
  4. Continued MAT if applicable
  5. Sober living arrangement if home environment is risky
  6. Named individual therapist for ongoing trauma and dual-diagnosis work
  7. Specific peer support meetings recommended
  8. Family follow-up plan
  9. Crisis plan and alumni line access

Most of our patients use commercial PPO insurance to cover the majority of their stay. We are in-network or able to negotiate single case agreements with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Magellan, and TRICARE. To find out exactly what your plan will cover, verify your benefits — it takes a few minutes and there is no obligation. Private-pay and financing options are also available.
