Why an Alumni Program Matters
The first 12 months after residential treatment are the highest-risk period for relapse. The data is consistent: patients who stay engaged with a recovery community, attend regular meetings, and have access to professional support during that first year do dramatically better than those who do not.
Our alumni program is designed to make staying connected easy, low-pressure, and genuinely useful — not a marketing tool, not a guilt trip, not something you have to opt into.
What's Included
Monthly alumni meetings
In-person meetings at our facility once a month, with virtual attendance available for alumni who have moved out of the area. Each meeting includes recovery sharing, a short topic discussion, and unstructured time to reconnect.
Annual alumni reunion
A larger event each year that brings together alumni, current patients, families, and staff. Past reunions have included guest speakers, recovery panels, sober activities, and a meal together.
Peer mentorship
Alumni who have a year or more of continuous recovery can volunteer to mentor patients in early recovery. Mentees can request a mentor at admission or any time after discharge. Mentorship is mutual — the mentor often gets as much from the work as the mentee.
Care coordination after discharge
For 90 days after discharge, our care coordination team checks in regularly to see how you are doing, troubleshoot barriers, and connect you with outpatient providers, sober living, mutual-aid meetings, or medical care as needed.
Lifetime access to our team
If you ever need to call us — for a relapse warning sign, a life crisis, a question about medication, a referral, or just to talk — you can. The admissions line at (725) 550-5655 is staffed 24/7 and any alumnus can ask for the clinical team.
Alumni-only resources
A private alumni community space (online and in person) for connection between meetings, sober events in the Las Vegas area, recovery book recommendations, and shared resources.
Who's Eligible
Anyone who has completed any level of treatment at BetterChoice — medical detox, residential, or step-down care — is automatically an alumnus and is welcome at all alumni events at no cost.
What If I Relapsed
You are still an alumnus. Relapse is part of many people's recovery story, not a disqualification from community. Our alumni program is for everyone who has been through our doors — not just for the people whose recovery has been linear. If you have relapsed and are not sure what to do next, call (725) 550-5655. We will help you figure out the next step, whether that is returning for another stay, finding outpatient care, or just talking through what happened.
Family Members
Family members of alumni are welcome at family-specific alumni events and at the annual reunion. Recovery is a family project and the support continues for everyone, not just the patient.
How to Get Connected
If you are a recent BetterChoice alumnus, you should already have alumni event invitations and a care coordinator's contact information. If you have lost touch and want to reconnect, call (725) 550-5655 and ask for the alumni coordinator. We will get you back on the list.
If you are a family member or friend of an alumnus, you can call us as well — we cannot share information about your loved one without their consent, but we can talk with you about general support resources.
